Pancake Day Fun Recipe for Kids: Flip It, Top It, Love It!
What is pancake day?
Long, long ago, people used to have a problem.. they always had too many ingredients left in their cupboards before Lent began. They had all sorts of things like flour, eggs, butter, fruit and sugar.
So someone very fond of baking decided the best (and most fun!) way to use up all these ingredients was to make pancakes! And that’s why, every Shrove Tuesday, we celebrate Pancake Day, the day before the start of Lent.
How do we make pancakes?
We have a really fun recipe for normal and vegan pancakes, perfect for the whole family to enjoy. Remember: always ask an adult to help when using a hot stove

Instructions:
- Crack the eggs and milk into a large mixing bowl and mix them up nicely,
- Add the flour to your milky mixture and whisk till there are no lumps
- (This is where you need an adult) Add some butter to the frying pan and put the heat on medium
- When the pan is hot enough, put some mixture in the pan and move the pan till its all coated to make a thin pancake.
- After one minute or two, turn the pancake over and it should be a lovely golden brown
- Cook the pancake on the other side.
- When the pancake is ready, flip it out onto your plate and quickly sprinkle it with some sugar, or any other topping you like.
